I've completed my first little shirt using an Ottobre pattern. It was all new to me...the eye-crossing pattern tracing, the puzzling absence of seam allowances, the conversions from metric to standard measurement, easing in a sleeve, setting a collar. Who knew that a placket was part of the front of a shirt? I thought it was something that grew on your teeth if you neglected your dental hygiene. Oh...that's plaque. It would be accurate to say that the learning curve was great. But I will definitely do it again.
I first saw this shirt on Kate's blog, Two Little Banshees. It is the Garden blouse from the 1/2008 issue. Very sweet. You can't see it well, but there are three little pleats on either side of the placket. (See? I did learn something.) You also can't see that I used the red polka dot fabric on the underside of the collar in case the wearer wants to flip up the collar and be jaunty.
This shirt is for a little baby girl from Vietnam. Her name is Camryn. Mr. Handsome's secretary and her husband just adopted her. She is soooo cute. I want my own Camryn, but the Voice of Reason (a.k.a. Mr. Handsome) gently said no without a moment's hesitation. It's probably a good thing I have him.
I also spankied-up a pair of jeans to go with the shirt.
Here's how they look together.
Now picture them on a cute little Asian wee one. It's a good thing, isn't it?
Toodles,
Cassie
It turned out so cute! Well done :-)

Your jacket turned out so cute! And a little vietnamese girl? Oh, now you're speaking to my heart. :) I love my little asian babies too and since they're mixed, they have features from both my husband and I, and every time I look at them, I feel blessed because I see how God created our beautiful children to have us both in them.
How amazing it is to be able to adopt a sweet child...I'm sure she will look adorable in this darling little set. You did a great job!

Cassie,
That is the cutest outfit and I love how you've coordinated everything. I'm sure that it will look even better on Camryn.
I love Ottobre and for once I don't have to do any conversions LOL They have the acest style for little ones and also for Mamas!

AHHHHHH! That is SO cute!!!! I just adore that little shirt! I am so wishing it weren't an Ottobre pattern though, they sound very scary and like a lot of work! Hey, at least you have the pattern now, I would be making tons of them, that is one of the cutest little tops I have ever seen!
I am imagining that Camryn looks like Marie's little girl, Maddie. That child is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen! I sort of want to steal her ; ) lol

Super cute. I want to have a little girl just for the purpose of making cuteness like this all the time. Thanks for the inspiration.
