It's Good to be New!

Your eyes are not tricking you.  I've made some changes.  New blog banner.  New colors.  New Etsy store. See the button on the sidebar?  I've also completed this new Birdie Sling (it's huge!) for my sister.  

What is it about new that draws me in?  Don't get me wrong.  I have a lot of old things that I like. But I like new things, too.   New fabric. New patterns. New shoes. New carpet. New babies. New bags of chips.  New ideas.

New things are clean, fresh, without blemish, and loaded with possibility.  As I thought about this, I had an OMG moment, literally.  Here's what flashed through my little blonde head.  God promises new mercies every morning.   New mercies...a fresh start, a clean slate, a heart without blemish, a day marked by possibilities.  Every single day this is the offer.  WOW!  What a gift!

This might surprise you, but  I have never recieved a gift from the president of the United States.  The govenor of Montana has never dropped a parcel on my doorstep.  The mayor of my town?  Nope.  Not even a birthday card.  But here's a news flash.  The Creator of the whole Universe gives me a gift every day.    I think I've left this gift on the counter unopened once, or twice, or thrice, or alot.  But not anymore.  I'm gonna rip off the bow each morning and dig in with both hands.  Ahhh...new...a breathe of fresh air.  It's good to be new.  Don't ya think?

But I have hope when I think of this:  The Lord's love never ends; his mercies never stop.  They are new every morning; Lord, your loyalty is great.  Lamentations 3:21-23
